How did it all start?

After so much thinking, planning, deadlines swooshing by, all the yay and nays, finally, our blog has seen the light of day. And I can tell you that the decision was not an easy one.

While we were developing our work plans, and while we were selecting topics for first few blog posts, it made perfect sense to share the story about how did it all start when it comes to Rent a PR Consulting. Certainly, there is some symbolism there, tie the beginning of our blog to the beginning of the Agency.

There is a wisdom in that saying – life is what happens to us, while we plan life. So while we were planning and overthinking out blogging, pressing deadlines and increase in obligations became our daily life. The easiest thing was to ignore our deadlines, to ignore our goals. Nevertheless, the blog happened, but not with the article we planned. We found comfort in the principle that everything happens for a reason. The day after we published our first blog, Facebook memories reminded of July 13, 2009, and my initial post announcing that I am embarking into entrepreneurial waters. You got to love the symbolism!

I have to state right away that this is not a typical story about starting one’s company, I am sure you have heard the stories about people who knew in the primary school that they will have company. Nope, not me. This story shows that sometimes key circumstances and situations happen to you, and only later you figure out that this was a life turning point.

Story of Rent a PR Consulting starts over a decade ago. My professional path, after working as a journalist, was marked by a decade of work in international organisations and numerous project. A brief excursion into the world of retail was the push I needed to step into entrepreneurship. But that push was not a gentle summer breeze it was a full blow hurricane you don’t fight but you go with it.

And that is how it began. After registration, the Agency was “one women show”. I have done paperwork, talked to the accounting, bank, external associates, invoicing, writing projects,  relationship building, and of course the most important thing I have delivered services to the existing clients. It was an exciting and intoxicating period, I have gained new friends and new clients. But I also realized that I chose a job that I love, and if the popular saying is to be believed – I will not work for the rest of my life.

Since this cherished memory (July 13, 2009) I am proud to say Rent a PR Consulting has grown, and not only when it comes to the team members.  Our services evolved and followed the trends, and needs of clients.  We have started as an Agency for PR support, now we identify ourselves as Agency for strategic communications and consulting. Our insistence on the quality of our services resulted in a fact that clients do come back, and this makes us so proud.

Don’t get me wrong, there are some thorns in every bed of roses after all.

Finally, I hope I will manage to pass on a few lessons. Number one – some things in life are unplanned, but they do happen for a good reason. Number two – enjoy the journey, it is not all about reaching the goal. Number three – take care of the people you meet on your journey, some of them will turn out to be real gems. I know this for certain, some of them are my associates.

And finally, if you love what you do, you will work so much, even more then you think. But still, the best thing is that you are building your dreams, not someone else’s.
